FAQ

1. What is myMozart.org ?

As you will see the myMozart.org homepage is divided into 710 blocks, each representing one of Mozart's compositions/KV (KV is the abbreviation for Kochel-Verzeichnis, a complete, chronological catalogue of compositions by W.A.Mozart which was originally created by Ludwing von Kochel).
You can buy as many blocks of KV as you like, as long there are some available (see the live stats at the top right conrner of the page).
When you buy a KV then you can display an image/ad/logo of your choice in the space you have purchased. You can also have the image click through to your own website.
However, no obscene or offensive images or links are allowed.
The KV you buy will be displayed on the homepage permanently. The homepage will not change. The website will be kept online for at least 5 years, but hopefully much longer.

2. Who are you?

Mymozart.org is a project set up by the Associazione Mozart Italia (‘AMI’), a non-profit organization founded in 1991 (on the bicentennial of Mozart's death) by the President Arnaldo Volani under the patronage of the Internationale Stiftung Mozarteum of Salzburg. Its aim is to promote and spread the study of the life and works of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, with a particular attention to the “Italian Mozart”. Besides that, AMI aims to encourage and promote young talented musicians and help them achieve international success.
The national headquarter is based in Rovereto (Trento – Italy) in Todeschi Palace, where the 13-year-old Amadeus performed his first Italian concert on Christmas night, 1769. In cooperation with other 19 affiliated associations located around Italy and one in Tokyo, AMI organizes every year more than 100 events like concerts, conventions, studies, the Mozart Weeks in September, Tafelmusik dinners. AMI is also the founder and organizer of the ‘AUDIMozart! International Competition’, held in Rovereto every two years.
The Board of Directors includes some of the most prestigious names in Mozart’s world: Prof. Rudolf Angermueller (former General Secretary of Mozarteum) and Maestro Marcello Abbado (the famous conductor Claudio Abbado’s brother) among others. Many other leading personalities, such as Prof. Bin Ebisawa, President of the Japan Mozart Society,  constantly cooperate with AMI.
Those who work for AMI  work on a voluntary basis, driven by passion.
AMI currently counts more than 5.000 members and thousands of participants.

3. How did you come up with the idea?

When Associazione Mozart Italia moved its headquarter to Todeschi Palace, the ancient rooms needed to be renovated. Therefore we had to apply for a bank loan and we’re still paying it. During 2006, the year of the 250th anniversary of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's birth, we had been organizing a huge schedule of concerts, events, conventions, including the official inauguration of the European MozartWays on January 14th, with the performance of the concert in F for three piano and orchestra KV 242, attended by the representatives of most of the 220 European cities, members of the official celebration committee. In the same year we also organized the 3rd edition of the 'AUDIMozart! International Competition' which is growing more and more successful every year! The 2006 edition, for instance, attracted over 125 competitors from 35 different Countries from all over the world.
As you can understand, all this requires a lot of money. In addition, fund raising is becoming more difficult every year.
That’s why the President of AMI, Arnaldo Volani, came up with the idea of this website. He found a private company (Multigram Communication) which supplied, at its own risk, people, know-how and financial support to achieve this historic initiative, that, we hope, could help AMI consolidate its prestigious activity and increase it.

4. Why should I buy these KV?

Because you will have an image and a link to your website on the homepage of a site that could potentially be seen by millions of people over the coming years.
Mozart is one of the most known “brands” in the world:
-- search for “mozart” in any of the most popular search engines and compare the results with those of other great musicians (from Beethoven to the Beatles and Michael Jackson) or famous commercial brands (from Coca Cola and McDonald’s) or popular sportsmen (from Schumacher to Tiger Woods);
--  ‘The 'Mozart' brand is one of the best known in the world’ said Arthur Oberascher, head of the Austrian National Tourist Office, estimating the brand's value at about 5.4 billion euros ($6.5 billion). ‘It is no wonder we are seeing such a profusion of by-products.’;
Therefore, buying one or more KV means that you will be associated to a reliable and very powerful brand. Whether you are an orchestras, theaters, musicians, labels, shops and distributors, hotel and restaurants, supplier of products and services, but also tourist locations (especially Mozart's places), MyMozart.org can help your business grow.

5. How can I pay my KV safely?

You can pay your KV by credit card through the secure payment system totally managed by PayPal.
If you don’t feel confident with online payments you can however pay your KV by bank transfer.
When payment is done you will receive a regular invoice.

6. Why I see a total of 710 KV instead of 626 as I have always been told?

The Köchel-Verzeichnis (‘Köchel-Catalogue’ in English) is the most complete, chronological catalogue of compositions by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, originally created by Ludwig von Köchel in 1862. The first edition classifies all of Mozart’s works from KV1 to KV626 (the Requiem). As new works were found or more accurate information was available, these new compositions were added to the first edition by assigning them a letter, such as a,b,c, after the number of the first classification (thus KV1a, KV1b, etc.) so that the chronological order of the catalogue was granted. Therefore, the total number of Mozart’s compositions is 710 KV.

7. What will you do with the money?

We hope to raise enough money to pay off the loan for the renovation of our seat (it consists in heavy yearly instalments); to pay off the debts piled up for the many events we have organized over the years; to strengthen our long-term commitment and enrich it with ever more interesting events that could involve and be appreciated by even more audience, members and musicians.

8. Why are payments not directly made to Associazione Mozart Italia?

Because it’s much safer and easier if the whole project is managed by experts with financial and technical background, as Multigram Communication is. Then Multigram Communication will  charge off the amount that is competence of AMI.

9. Can I put a link to myMozart.org on my website or blog?
